I am dedicating my summer to helping those in need. My work at the clinic is focused on housing issues, which as a result of COVID, are about to be one of the main issues people need addressed.

I am honored to be an EJA fellow...  Being chosen as a fellow meant more than just provision of financial means; it meant I had a duty to the donors, those at EJA who reviewed my initial application, and to the clients I served.

My summer working as an Equal Justice America Fellow was an amazing experience... In that position, I got to see how a dedicated nonprofit legal organization serves the indigent and disabled of its community.

This fellowship has enabled me to work alongside attorneys who contribute to equal justice for all every day by helping clients escape eviction, obtain domestic violence orders of protection, and access veteran benefits...

While the legal system is incredibly daunting and discouraging, the chance to give clients access to justice has inspired me and is a welcome reminder of why I wanted to go to law school.

My summer internship with the Legal Aid Society was an amazing experience... I was able to advocate on behalf of clients regarding divorce proceedings, orders of protection, and supervised visitation.

Working for an organization like Legal Aid Chicago that serves primarily low-income clients would not be possible if it wasn’t for the funding from organizations like Equal Justice America.

Listening to the stories of the trauma they endured in their home countries and seeing the heartbreaking images on the news constantly reminds me of how necessary it is for everyone to be an advocate for immigrant communities.

I wanted to thank you and your team for your hard work and support this summer. It was an honor to be selected as an Equal Justice America fellow and to serve people with disabilities this summer at Equip for Equality. 

Without EJA I would not have been afforded such an opportunity to move to Texas for the summer and serve these individuals who so desperately need our help. Thank you for the extraordinary opportunity and eye-opening experience.

I am feeling extremely excited and proud to be spending the summer with Legal Aid Chicago working to protect the rights of immigrant workers and their families. Thanks to Equal Justice America for supporting my work this summer.

As an EJA Fellow at LSSCM, I was able to affirm my commitment to public service. After this summer, I am sure that I have found where I fit in and the field in which I am destined to work.

I am extremely thankful to have had the opportunity to intern at Legal Aid Chicago this summer with the assistance provided by Equal Justice America. This experience has strengthened my commitment to family law and juvenile justice...

I hope that Equal Justice America is able to continue its vital mission of providing public interest-minded law students with the funding they often lack – both for the law students... and for the communities that your fellowships so nobly serve.

The summer I spent at Kids in Need of Defense was one of the best experiences I have ever had... KIND has taught me so much about how to effectively work toward promoting the inherent worth and dignity of vulnerable immigrant children seeking protection.

Thank you for providing me with this funding and allowing me to do the exact kind of work I plan to do when I graduate from law school. My experience at Greater Boston Legal Services was incredibly educational, motivating, and validating of my career plans

I am proud to be an EJA fellow, and hope donors continue to support this wonderful program so that future aspiring attorneys can take advantage of the public service opportunities available to them.

[EJA] allows some of the brightest law students opportunities to remain financially afloat while passionately assisting others who are in great need of legal assistance. 

I am helping clients protect their rights as tenants as they face unparalleled difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help low-income families remain in safe and affordable housing.

Thank you and everyone at Equal Justice America (EJA) for your support this summer. My EJA fellowship allowed me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams and obtain and create new career goals.

What is being a lawyer? Is it writing briefs, doing legal research? Is it litigating, and fighting in court? Screaming (respectfully) “I object!” Sure. But it’s also advocating for those that need it most, in whatever way you can, even if it’s unconventional.
