When I reflect on my education and career opportunities, I often think of the children of my clients living in shelters. It serves as a stark reminder that domestic violence can push marginalized communities deeper into the cycle of poverty and violence. URI works extremely hard to break this cycle by supporting survivors with their needs and connecting them to various resources to restart their lives in independence and prosperity. I am thankful for this experience because it showed me that the legal field needs people who are committed to dedicating their time and energy to help others navigate America's grueling legal system.
