Fordham University School of Law
The following Fordham University School of Law students have received fellowships from Equal Justice America. These fellowships are made possible by contributions from Fordham law alumni. With continued support from the alumni, we look forward to putting many more Fordham law students and graduates to work providing vitally needed legal assistance to the poor.
(Equal Justice America is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation unaffiliated with any law school.)

What a great summer! I have taken further steps in pursuing immigration law by working at the Lincoln Square Legal Service, Inc. I have seen the dedication it takes to help underrepresented community members, and I will have the same commitment in my career.

The financial support from EJA allowed me to dedicate my summer to working full time at a public interest clinic. Clinics like [Lincoln Square Legal Services] provide incredible support and assistance to low-income clients and without financial support from organizations like EJA, it would be incredibly difficult to attract students to this kind of work. I am extremely grateful to EJA for supporting students who wish to pursue public-interest work

Like many others in the wake of George Floyd’s death I have been thinking a lot about systematic racism and the inequalities that exist in our society. In the past two weeks at Legal Aid, I have seen the direct effects of our current system on my clients, especially in regard to determinations of child safety and subsequent removals. I am so excited for the opportunity this summer to learn firsthand how I can use my future law degree to help in dismantling this biased system.

I am grateful to Equal Justice America for helping me financially with the fellowship that allowed me to do the public interest work I am most passionate about while living in New York City. The experiences I had [at Fordham University School of Law’s Immigrant Rights Clinic] were affirming that I am in the correct field, and that there is work that I find meaningful within it. Thank you for everything.
