Every minute 24 people are victims of rape, physical violence or stalking. We have a domestic violence crisis, a crisis affecting 12 million women and men annually in the United States. In Cook County alone, from 9/1/21 through 9/1/22, Illinois Hotline Contact Data showed 20,754 calls from survivors seeking help.

The EJA Domestic Violence Fellowship will begin in Fall 2023.

The Civil Rights & Racial Justice Program at the Legal Aid Justice Center works to end the criminalization of poverty in Virginia by exposing and addressing criminal legal system policies that target people because of poverty and race.

This past summer I spent my time at Prisoners’ Legal Services of Massachusetts (PLS), which is the only organization of its kind in the entire state. It offers a central office for incarcerated people to contact and seek help for various civil legal issues that involves their incarceration experience.

This summer, I had the opportunity to work with these unaccompanied minors at the National Immigrant Justice Center’s Immigrant Children Protection. Prior to this summer, I already had a strong interest in immigration law.

This summer, support from Equal Justice America allowed me to pursue a legal services fellowship with East Bay Community Law Center’s housing unit, defending low-income tenants from eviction in Alameda County.

This summer, I had the pleasure to intern for Project Libertad. Project Libertad is a non-profit organization that empowers newcomer immigrant youth and their families by providing essential, youth-led, and youth-centered legal and social services.
