Chicago-Kent College of Law

The following Chicago-Kent College of Law students have received fellowships from Equal Justice America. These fellowships are made possible by contributions from Chicago-Kent alumni. With continued support from the alumni, we look forward to putting many more Chicago-Kent law students and graduates to work providing vitally needed legal assistance to the poor.

(Equal Justice America is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation unaffiliated with any law school.)

"I am incredibly proud of the work we accomplished and very grateful for the knowledge I have gained at MALDEF. Specifically, I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and cases that not only taught me about critical issues Latinx communities face but also the importance of impact litigation."

My time at [the Legal Assistance Foundation] was a personal and professional experience that I will value forever. I learned about people, the law, economics, and how the medical field intersects with the law. This internship solidified in my mind that public interest law is what I want to practice in the future. I love using the skills I have learned to fight for our most vulnerable citizens and I plan to do that for the remainder of my career. Thank you for helping me pursue my dreams and equipping me with support to help Chicago.

I came to law school to be a civil rights advocate for students with learning disabilities. I seek to help students fight for their rights to a better education. Interning with Equip for Equality will allow me to continue my commitment in changing the way students are being educated, and with funding from Equal Justice America, I will be able to continue my commitment without having to worry about incurring additional student loan debt.

On a day when the Supreme Court announced a hugely important decision protecting the DACA Program, I am feeling extremely excited and proud to be spending the summer with Legal Aid Chicago working to protect the rights of immigrant workers and their families. Thanks to Equal Justice America for supporting my work this summer.

My summer working as an Equal Justice America Fellow was an amazing experience. I interned at Center for Disability & Elder Law. In that position, I got to see how a dedicated nonprofit legal organization serves the indigent and disabled of its community. I attained a variety of legal experience, and I became increasingly passionate about legally serving the indigent.
