University of Wisconsin Law School

The following University of Wisconsin Law School students have received fellowships from Equal Justice America. These fellowships are made possible by contributions from University of Wisconsin law alumni. With continued support from the alumni, we look forward to putting many more University of Wisconsin law students to work providing vitally needed legal assistance to the poor.

(Equal Justice America is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation unaffiliated with any law school.)

Over the past summer, I've had the incredible opportunity to work with a non-profit law firm here in Los Angeles, which has given me a firsthand look at the pressing social problems and injustices that our legal community faces on a daily basis. I'm excited to continue learning, growing, and working towards a future where the legal community stands as a beacon of hope for those in need.

This summer [at the Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing] was an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my legal career. I witnessed firsthand what a difference a lawyer can make to an individual in crisis, and that is precisely the kind of lawyer I want to be. Thank you and everyone at Equal Justice America for helping make this opportunity possible. It was the greatest first law job I could have imagined for myself.

My time at ABC for Health, Inc. provided an eye-opening experience into the world of public interest law, health policy, and public benefits. Through this fellowship I gained an understanding of the complex world of health care coverage. Beyond simply learning about these programs, I worked one-on-one with clients to screen for eligibility, assist them in navigating benefits programs, and advocating on their behalf. This fellowship provided me with invaluable insight into the world of public interest law. I cannot imagine a more rewarding experience. One of the reasons I chose to go to law school was because I wanted to help others. Working at ABC for Health this summer illustrated that I chose the right profession.
