Before law school, Isabella Lajara was already on the front lines—managing intakes and hearings for asylum seekers at Georgetown’s Center for Applied Legal Studies. Now at CUNY School of Law, she’s expanding her impact through direct legal services and community empowerment. As an EJA Fellow at CARECEN, she’s supporting immigrant families through a range of services—from asylum and TPS applications to accessing housing, mental health care, and financial resources. Isabella also leads Know Your Rights trainings for street vendors and high school students across New York City. Her work bridges the legal and human needs of her clients, and she brings empathy, fluency, and resilience to every case.
