University of California Law San Francisco

The following University of California Law San Francisco students have received Fellowships from Equal Justice America. These fellowships are made possible by contributions from UC Law SF alumni. With continued support from the alumni, we look forward to putting many more UC Law SF students to work providing vitally needed legal assistance to the poor.

(Equal Justice America is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation unaffiliated with any law school.)

"Taking an unpaid position at a nonprofit this summer is an opportunity I feel very thankful to have had. I know many people are pushed out of such opportunities because funding presents an issue. I feel immense gratitude towards Equal Justice America for helping to make it possible for me to take this opportunity with EBCLC."

Over the past summer, I worked as a legal intern at the East Bay Community Law Center in their Housing Practice doing eviction defense. I cannot speak enough about the positive impact this experience has had on me and the valuable legal advocacy skills I learned there. This experience solidified my ambition to work in direct legal services with disparately impacted communities. Previously, I was a tenants’ rights organizer in Brooklyn and I can say that the housing crisis in the Bay Area is just as dire as in New York City. That is why it is so crucial to have legal advocates who are fighting alongside tenants to help them keep their homes. I am extremely appreciative of Equal Justice America for supporting me in this experience this summer, and I hope you will consider donating to EJA so that future summer fellows can engage in this important and gratifying work.

I write to thank you for the support Equal Justice America provided me this summer in my work at the East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC) in Berkeley, CA. It was a tremendous learning opportunity to clerk in the immigration unit of the largest provider of free legal services in Alameda County. EBCLC provided the solid training ground for collaborative public interest based lawyering I was looking for.
