University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall

The following University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall law students have received fellowships from Equal Justice America. These fellowships are made possible by contributions from Berkeley Law alumni. With continued support from the alumni, we look forward to putting many more Berkeley Law students to work providing vitally needed legal assistance to the poor.

(Equal Justice America is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation unaffiliated with any law school.)

Exploring creative theories that bring constitutional doctrines to life in order to protect highly vulnerable immigrant children has served as a powerful reminder that our Constitution is an organism that lives, breathes—and, most importantly, grows—within in our legal ecosystems. Although immigrant communities remain grossly under-protected under our Constitution, this legal research has only redoubled my commitment to advocating for new ways for constitutional principles to live and grow within the lattice of our immigration laws. In all, I have continued to develop my advocacy toolkit at Public Counsel, and remain ever-impassioned by the work. Thank you, Equal Justice America, for making this summer opportunity possible with the EJA Fellowship.

I am writing to say thank you for providing funds to support my summer work with the Community Economic Justice Clinic at the East Bay Community Law Center. My work this summer on sustainable economic development cemented my desire to pursue a career in the field. I know that my mind would have strayed from the work if I had to request emergency loans from the law school to fund the second half of my summer; the Equal Justice America Fellowship I received kept that anxiety at bay
